Angola, the sole survivor among the African representatives in the Handball World Cup in Serbia, came close to qualifying for the quarter-finals against Germany. Despite a commendable effort, the Palancas Negras girls were defeated by Germany with a final score of 29-21.
Angola’s players, led by top scorer Marcelina Kiala with 8 goals, responded well to Germany’s attacks, finishing the first half with a narrow 3-point gap (13-10). The second period proved to be more challenging for the African team.
With this result, Germany secures a place in the quarter-finals and will face Denmark in the upcoming match. The competition takes a break on Tuesday and resumes on Wednesday with the quarter-final matchups.
