The players are waiting for their bonuses of one million FCFA each for the victory against Uganda. Me Augustin Senghor, the president of the Senegalese football federation, acknowledged the delay and praised the players for their courage and patriotism. The delay in bonus payments comes at a time when there are reports of non-financing of Senegal’s matches, as indicated by Senegalese Sports Minister Mbagnik Ndiaye.
The situation is seen as serious and worrying for Senegalese football, especially given the team’s opportunity to participate in the World Cup. Federal sources suggest that if the state does not address the issue promptly, the federation will find means to pay the bonuses to avoid discouraging players.
