World Cup playoff: Super Eagles seek swift resolution of bonus dispute ahead of Gabon clash
Nigeria captain William Troost-Ekong says the Super Eagles are hopeful that issues surrounding their bonus payments will be resolved swiftly ahead of Thursday’s crucial clash against Gabon.
Nigeria are set to face Gabon in the semi-final of the 2026 FIFA World Cup African playoffs. Preparations have been disrupted after players and officials boycotted training on Tuesday in Morocco over unresolved payment and bonus concerns.
In a statement on X (formerly Twitter), Troost-Ekong emphasised that the team remains focused on its mission, despite the ongoing dispute.
“Once resolution is found we will be the first to confirm. Any other statement or claim, especially demands other than the rightful request written about below, is false. All we want and continue to do is focus on the big games ahead,” the Nigerian captain posted.
