Burkina Faso defender Trova Boni completes transfer to Al Ahly Benghazi
Burkina Faso international defender Trova Boni has completed a move to Libyan side Al Ahly Benghazi, extending his career in the country after officially signing with the club at the age of 26.
The transfer was confirmed by Al Ahly Benghazi through their official social media channels, bringing an end to Boni’s spell with fellow Libyan outfit Al Akhdar.
Boni spent a season and a half at Al Akhdar after joining the club in February 2025, where he quickly established himself as a key figure in defence. His performances were marked by consistency, physical strength and experience gained from playing at different levels of professional football.
The central defender’s switch to Al Ahly Benghazi represents a step forward within the same league, as he joins one of Libya’s most successful and ambitious clubs.
Al Ahly Benghazi have long been regarded as a leading force in domestic football and continue to aim for success both nationally and on the continental stage.
For Boni, the move offers an opportunity to further develop his career while contributing to a team with strong competitive ambitions for the upcoming season.
The Burkina Faso international began his football journey at Salitas in his home country before moving abroad, gaining experience in Belgium, Portugal and the United States. His varied career path has helped shape him into a well-travelled and adaptable defender.
His time in Libya has added another important chapter to that journey, with his performances at Al Akhdar earning him recognition and now leading to this latest opportunity with Al Ahly Benghazi.
Boni will now look to build on his experience and secure a regular role in his new team as they prepare for the challenges of the coming season.
With expectations high at the club, his arrival is seen as part of an effort to strengthen the squad and compete at the highest level.
The defender’s continued presence in Libya highlights his growing influence in African club football, as he seeks to make an impact at one of the country’s most prominent sides while maintaining his status as an international player for Burkina Faso.
