World Cup 2026: Sweden 5-1 Tunisia Player Ratings
Tunisia suffered a disappointing start to their 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign as Sweden powered to a commanding 5-1 victory in their Group C opener.
The Eagles of Carthage struggled to contain Sweden’s attacking movement throughout the match and found themselves chasing the game for long periods.
While the scoreline was harsh from a Tunisian perspective, a handful of players still produced respectable performances in a difficult evening.
Match Report
Sweden entered the match looking to make an early statement in Group F and did exactly that. The Scandinavians dominated possession, created numerous chances, and repeatedly exposed gaps in the Tunisian defence.
Tunisia found it difficult to cope with Sweden’s attacking intensity, particularly down the flanks. The North Africans were often forced into deep defensive positions and struggled to build sustained attacks of their own.
Hannibal Mejbri was one of Tunisia’s brightest performers, attempting to drive the team forward whenever possible. However, the former Manchester United midfielder received little support as Sweden continued to pile on pressure.
Defensively, Tunisia endured a difficult night. Goalkeeper Abdelmouhib Chamekh was left exposed on several occasions as Sweden converted their opportunities to secure an emphatic victory.
