Morocco head coach Mohamed Ouahbi has insisted that the Atlas Lions have no preferred opponent ahead of the Round of 32 at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, stressing that his team is preparing for every possible challenge that could come their way.

The Moroccan manager made the comments after his side’s dramatic 4-2 victory over Haiti at Atlanta Stadium in Georgia on Wednesday, June 24, a result that secured Morocco’s place in the knockout stage of the tournament.

With Morocco set to face the winners of Group F, Ouahbi acknowledged that several different tactical scenarios remain possible depending on the final group standings.

Morocco Focused on Every Possible Scenario

Speaking during his post-match press conference, Ouahbi explained that Morocco’s coaching staff has already started studying the potential opponents awaiting the Atlas Lions in the next round.

“I do not have a preferred opponent. Tomorrow we will know the team we will face, and we have three different possibilities ahead of us, each with its own style of play,” Ouahbi said.

The Morocco coach emphasized that adaptability and preparation would be essential as the tournament enters the knockout phase, where margins for error become significantly smaller.

Atlas Lions Already Studying Potential Opponents

Although Ouahbi stressed that Morocco’s primary focus remains on improving their own performances, he revealed that the technical staff has already conducted detailed analysis on several possible opponents.

“We are at the World Cup, and we came here with great ambitions. We have the desire and the ambition, and we are ready for everyone. We have to prepare ourselves first, and then analyze the opponents. We have even already analyzed the performances of the Netherlands, Japan, and Sweden,” he explained.

The comments highlighted Morocco’s confidence heading into the next stage of the competition after successfully navigating the group phase.

Morocco Await Group F Winner

Morocco’s qualification means the Atlas Lions will now face the winner of Group F in the Round of 32. Depending on the final standings, that could set up a meeting with the Netherlands, Japan, or Sweden.

Each nation presents a different tactical challenge, something Ouahbi openly acknowledged in his assessment after the Haiti match.

The Moroccan coach’s comments also reflected the growing ambitions surrounding the national team following their strong performances on the world stage in recent years.

Confidence Growing Inside the Moroccan Camp

Despite some defensive struggles during the win over Haiti, Morocco showed resilience to recover from difficult moments and eventually secure qualification with a convincing scoreline.

That determination appears to have strengthened belief within the squad ahead of the knockout rounds.

Ouahbi’s message after the game was clear. Morocco respects every opponent remaining in the competition, but the Atlas Lions believe they are capable of competing against any team standing in their path.
