Netherlands head coach Ronald Koeman has praised the Moroccan national team ahead of their Round of 32 clash at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, describing the encounter as a “great match” between two sides with ambitions of going deep in the tournament.

Koeman Anticipates a High-Level World Cup Clash

Speaking ahead of the match scheduled for Monday, Koeman suggested that both teams are capable of playing leading roles in the competition, making their early knockout meeting a particularly significant one.

He also noted that the fixture “comes too early” for two teams of such quality, both of whom he believes are capable of advancing further in the tournament.

Morocco Described as “Strong and Attractive”

Responding to a question from the Maghreb Arab Press Agency during the pre-match press conference, Koeman described the Atlas Lions as a “strong and attractive” side, highlighting their technical ability and attacking identity.

He further praised Morocco’s style of play, noting their comfort in possession and their capacity to play high-quality football built around talented individuals.

Respect and Confidence Ahead of the Match

Koeman emphasised that the Netherlands will approach the game with full respect for Morocco, while also expressing belief in his own squad’s strengths.

He stated: “Morocco is a strong team. It will be a great match between two teams that are looking to go far in this competition. In my opinion, a match of this magnitude comes too early for both teams in this round of the World Cup.”

He added that his team will look to make the most of its strengths in order to secure victory.
