World Cup 2026: Maghnes Akliouche proud to represent France on football’s biggest stage
Maghnes Akliouche says he feels proud to be part of France’s squad at the 2026 World Cup as the AS Monaco midfielder continues to prepare for his opportunity on football’s biggest stage.
The French international was included in France’s 26-man squad for the tournament but did not feature in the opening Group I match against Senegal.
Ahead of France’s second group game against Iraq, Akliouche spoke to Chinese television channel NetEase News about his experience of being involved in the competition and his mindset while waiting for his chance.
The Monaco midfielder explained that representing France at the World Cup is a special moment and that his focus remains on maintaining his fitness and being prepared whenever he is called upon by the coach.
“Competing in the most prestigious competition, there’s nothing better. It’s a source of pride to be here in the group.
Now, it’s about working hard in training to stay in shape and, of course, be ready when the coach needs you,” the Monaco player said in a video filmed in recent hours by the FFF during an interview with the Chinese channel NetEase News.
Akliouche’s inclusion in the France squad has given him the opportunity to experience the atmosphere of a major international tournament while competing alongside some of the country’s leading players.
Although he was not involved in the opening match, the midfielder remains focused on contributing whenever the opportunity arrives.
The 2026 World Cup represents another important step in Akliouche’s international career, with the Monaco player continuing to work in training and wait for his chance to make an impact for France.
