The Leopards produced a disciplined and determined display against one of South America’s strongest teams but were ultimately undone by a single moment of quality. Despite the loss, several Congolese players emerged with credit after a spirited performance.

Match Report

Having earned an impressive 1-1 draw against Portugal in their opening match, DR Congo entered the contest full of confidence. Colombia dominated possession for large spells, but the Leopards remained compact and difficult to break down.

The African side defended bravely throughout the first half, with Chancel Mbemba organizing the back line and Lionel Mpasi producing several important saves. Arthur Masuaku and Aaron Wan-Bissaka also worked tirelessly to limit Colombia’s attacking threat from wide areas.
