Stephen Keshi, the coach of the Nigerian national football team, made history by becoming the first African coach to qualify two different African countries for the FIFA World Cup. Keshi had previously achieved this feat in 2005 when he guided Togo to qualification for the 2006 World Cup, although he did not lead them in the tournament itself.
In 2013, Keshi secured Nigeria’s qualification for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil by defeating Ethiopia 2-0. This victory also marked Nigeria as the 22nd country to qualify for the tournament. The achievement was notable, considering that Keshi had successfully led two different African nations to World Cup qualification, showcasing his coaching prowess.
Despite this remarkable accomplishment, Keshi was not nominated for the Best FIFA Coach award, leading to some discussions and debates within the football community.
