Malawi Football Federation (FAM) has reportedly sent a letter to FIFA, requesting a change of venue for the Nigeria vs. Malawi World Cup qualifier scheduled for September. The FAM cites security concerns in Calabar, the initially designated venue, and requests that the match be moved to Abuja or a neutral country for the safety of their delegation. The letter emphasizes the Commonwealth Commission’s report on security risks in Calabar and expresses reluctance to take security risks, especially with the presence of the Malawian Minister of Sports in the delegation. Additionally, Malawi rejects the Malagasy referee appointed for the match.
