Asamoah Gyan set the tone for Ghana, scoring in the 19th minute, and Wakaso Mubarak added to the lead, securing a comfortable 2-0 advantage at halftime. Despite losing Gyan to injury in the second half, Ghana maintained control of the game. The rising star Abdul Majeed Waris contributed a third goal, and Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu sealed the victory with a fourth goal towards the end of the match. The final score stood at 4-0 in favor of Ghana.
In the same group, Zambia and Lesotho played to a 1-1 draw. With this victory, Ghana, now with 6 points, closed the gap to just 1 point behind Chipolopolo (Zambia), who leads the group with 7 points.
