Despite his limited playing time with Orlando Pirates in South Africa, Fatau Dauda has received a vote of confidence from James Kwesi Appiah, the coach of Ghana. Dauda will retain his position as the No. 1 goalkeeper for the Black Stars during the upcoming World Cup.
Coach Appiah stated, “Fatau Dauda remains my first choice despite the many problems with his club. I’ve given both Stephen and Kwarasey Adams the opportunity to prove themselves many times and he knows what they can do.” He emphasized that the door is not closed to any player, indicating that he continues to monitor the performances of other goalkeepers such as Daniel Agyei and Razak Braimah.
Despite being absent from the match against Montenegro, Dauda can now focus on preparing for the World Cup with confidence, knowing that he has the full support of the coach.
