WORLD 2014: ANDRÉ AYEW IS GOING THERE TO GO AS FAR AS POSSIBLE

The draw for the 2014 FIFA World Cup presented a challenging scenario for Ghana, placing them in Group G, also known as the “group of death,” alongside Germany, the United States, and Portugal. The Black Stars, quarter-finalists in the previous World Cup, face formidable opponents in this group.

In their opening group match, André Ayew’s team will take on the United States, a familiar opponent they have encountered twice before in the 2006 and 2010 World Cups. The second match for the Black Stars will witness a sibling rivalry between the Boateng brothers, as Jérôme Boateng and Kevin-Prince Boateng face each other for the second consecutive time in World Cup finals. In the 2010 World Cup, Jérôme Boateng’s team emerged victorious with a 1-0 scoreline. The final group stage challenge for Ghana will be against Portugal, led by captain Cristiano Ronaldo, considered the favorites in the group.

Despite acknowledging the complexity of the group, André Ayew, the midfielder for the Black Stars, expressed confidence and belief in their abilities. He remarked, “It’s a complicated group, but I believe in it. We will already have to approach the first match against the United States. The future will depend on it. We know them; we eliminated them in the round of 16 four years ago. Germany and Portugal are the logical favorites, but we are going there to go as far as possible.” Ayew reflects on Ghana’s past achievements and aims to navigate through a challenging group once again.
