The African Women’s Cup of Nations is set to commence on October 28, and Nigeria, being a continental powerhouse, is gearing up to defend their title in Equatorial Guinea. The Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) confirmed the initiation of preparations for its women’s national team, the Falcons.
Starting this Thursday, the Falcons will embark on a week-long training course in Ghana before heading to Equatorial Guinea. Mohammed Sanusi, the director of competitions at the NFF, revealed that the Falcons will engage in two friendly matches during their training in Ghana. The primary objective is to retain the title of African champions, which they secured in 2010.
Sanusi expressed the importance of the Super Falcons to Nigerians and emphasized the NFF’s commitment to supporting and ensuring their success. The team will be under the guidance of Kadiri Ihana, the coach who led the Enyimba club to their first African Champions League title in 2003.
