Mario Lemina’s future at Wolverhampton Wanderers hangs in the balance, as head coach Victor Pereira has confirmed the Gabonese international will not feature in matches before the close of the winter transfer window.
The decision follows increasing speculation about Lemina’s potential move away from the Premier League side, with strong links to a transfer to the Saudi Pro League club Al Shabab.
Wolves faced a 3-1 defeat to Chelsea on January 20, 2025, in a Premier League fixture at Stamford Bridge. Notably, Lemina was left out of the squad, a decision that raised questions among reporters.
In the post-match press conference, Pereira clarified his stance, expressing concerns about the midfielder’s commitment amidst ongoing transfer rumors.
“I have to be honest and say what happened,” Pereira explained. “I don’t want a player who has doubts. I want players who are committed to the project.
He [Mario Lemina] is training, but for now, he doesn’t have his mind on it because he still wants to move and leave. I’ll wait until the end of the market and see.”
Lemina’s Absence and Transfer Speculation
The 31-year-old midfielder, who joined Wolves in January 2023, has not played for the club since their 1-0 victory against Nottingham Forest on January 6, 2025.
His absence from subsequent fixtures has only fueled speculation about his future.
