Wolves in talks to sign Austrian-Ghanaian defender Kevin Danso from Lens

Kevin Danso

Premier League club Wolverhampton Wanderers are currently engaged in negotiations to secure the signing of centre-back Kevin Danso from Lens.

However, no agreement has been finalized between the two clubs as of yet for the Austria international of Ghanaian descent.

The 26-year-old has made 125 appearances for Lens over the past four seasons. He previously spent the 2019-20 campaign on loan at Southampton, where he made 10 appearances.

According to reports, Wolves’ priority in the current transfer window has been the recruitment of a new central defender.

This need has arisen following the departure of Maximilian Kilman to West Ham United in the summer and the season-ending anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury sustained by Yerson Mosquera in September.

Wolves have already completed the signing of centre-back Emmanuel Agbadou from Reims this month, and head coach Vitor Pereira is now targeting further defensive reinforcements.

This comes as Wolves have struggled defensively this season, conceding 52 goals in 23 Premier League games, just one fewer than Southampton, who have the league’s leakiest defense.

Wolves, currently 18th in the Premier League standings, will return to action on Saturday with a home league match against Aston Villa.
