VfL Wolfsburg officials were in attendance on Sunday to closely monitor Moroccan youngster Yassir Zabiri during FC Famalicao’s narrow 1-0 defeat to FC Alverca in the Portuguese league.
According to sources, representatives of the Bundesliga club watched the encounter closely, with particular focus on Zabiri, who leads the line for Famalicao and has been attracting growing interest across Europe.
The 20-year-old, who lifted the U20 World Cup with Morocco last year, was unable to fully convince the Wolfsburg delegation during the match. Reports suggest the performance reinforced the impression that Zabiri may not yet be ready to make an immediate impact at the German club, although he has not been ruled out as a future option.
Interest from Wolfsburg has also been confirmed by Sky reporter Patrick Berger, who revealed that discussions are already ongoing between the parties. According to his information, the Lower Saxony side are prepared to go as high as €13 million in a potential move for the Moroccan forward.
Zabiri remains under contract with FC Famalicao until 2028, with no release clause included in his current deal, leaving any possible transfer subject to negotiations between the two clubs.
