As the French Ligue 1 fall champion and aspiring to win the Champions League in 2014, PSG is eager to strengthen its squad during the winter transfer window. While dreaming of acquiring Lionel Messi, whose price tag is set at 250 million euros, PSG is also eyeing Yohan Cabaye, the 27-year-old French international midfielder currently under contract with Newcastle United until 2016.
According to reports from The Daily Mail, Newcastle has set a transfer price of 22 million pounds, approximately 26 million euros, for Cabaye. The French player was originally acquired for 6 million euros from Lille in June 2011.
However, Alan Pardew, the manager of Newcastle, denies the validity of these reports, stating, “I saw the price in the newspapers, but it’s not our price. We don’t want to sell him, of course not. He is a major player in the team; he must take advantage of that. If he stays here, then he will have a big influence at the World Cup.”
Despite these assertions, Arsenal is also reportedly interested in securing Yohan Cabaye.
