William Gallas supports France ahead of Spain clash

Former France international William Gallas has sent a message of support to Didier Deschamps’ squad ahead of their World Cup semi-final meeting with Spain in Dallas.

The former defender, who represented Les Bleus between 2002 and 2010, encouraged his former national team colleagues as they prepare for a crucial encounter against Spain with a place in the final at stake.

Gallas earned 84 appearances for France during his international career, scoring five goals, and remains closely connected to the national team after his years representing the country at major tournaments.

The ex-Arsenal and Chelsea player used his social media platforms to share his support for the current generation of French players before their semi-final challenge.

The match against Spain also brought back memories of France’s previous World Cup meeting with their European rivals.

Gallas was part of the French squad that reached the 2006 World Cup final, playing six matches during the tournament. He also featured in France’s campaign at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, where he played three games.

The defender’s international career included several memorable moments, including helping France win the Confederations Cup in 2003.

Ahead of the latest France-Spain encounter, Gallas reflected on the similarities between the two occasions and highlighted the ambition that continues to drive Les Bleus.

“In 2006, we played against Spain for the last 16 years. Today France plays against Spain in the semi-final… Same ambition. Go Les Bleus!”, he wrote on his Instagram account.

France’s current squad will now look to follow the path of previous generations as they attempt to overcome Spain and secure a place in the World Cup final.

For Gallas, the semi-final represents another important chapter in a rivalry that has produced memorable matches throughout the years.

The former defender’s message adds to the support surrounding Deschamps’ team as they prepare for one of their biggest matches of the tournament.

With his experience of playing at the highest international level, including a World Cup final appearance, Gallas’ words serve as encouragement for the current France squad as they chase further success on the global stage.
