William Dankyi: Ghanaian left-back joins Al-Hedod SC from Aduana

Ghana defender William Dankyi has joined Iraqi side Al-Hedod SC from Aduana, completing a move that takes the left-back abroad after a long spell in the Ghana Premier League. The 26-year-old, who plays primarily at left-back and favours his left foot, links up with the Iraqi club following his departure from Aduana.

Dankyi arrives at Al-Hedod with extensive top-flight experience, having made 117 appearances in the Ghana Premier League and featuring in more than 9,500 minutes of league football. During that time he contributed five assists from defence, underlining his capacity to support attacks from the flank as well as carry out his defensive duties.

Before his switch to Al-Hedod, Dankyi had joined Aduana in 2025 on a free transfer from Gold Stars FC, where he spent the 2023-24 campaign after a move from King Faisal. His steady rise through the Ghanaian domestic game has seen him establish himself as a regular at several clubs and earn exposure in continental competition.

Dankyi’s most notable honours to date include winning the Ghanaian league title with Hearts of Oak in the 2020-21 season. During his time with Hearts, he also gained experience in both the CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup, making appearances in each competition and registering an assist in the latter.

Standing at 1.78m, Dankyi adds defensive depth and experience to Al-Hedod’s back line as he embarks on the next chapter of his career with the Iraqi club following his move from Aduana.
