After spending five seasons with Lille since 2008, Rio Mavuba is considering a departure from the club this summer. The 29-year-old midfielder expressed his desire for a new experience outside France in an interview with Sky Sport. There are indications that he might receive an offer from the Italian Serie A.
Mavuba could potentially reunite with his former coach at Lille, Rudi Garcia, who has since moved on to AS Roma. Garcia, now in charge of Roma, reportedly submitted a list of players he would like to have, including Mavuba, to the club’s sporting director Walter Sabatini. AS Roma is reportedly open to negotiations with the parties involved.
