Wilhelmshaven add dual-national winger Shamsu Mansaray from FSV Schoningen

Germany and Sierra Leone winger Shamsu Mansaray has joined Wilhelmshaven from FSV Schoningen on a free transfer, giving the Lower Saxony club a new right-sided attacking option.

Mansaray, 27, completed the move on 14 August 2026 after two years with Schoningen. He has signed a contract with Wilhelmshaven that runs until 30 June 2027.

The right-footed forward arrives with extensive experience in Germany’s regional leagues. He has made 85 appearances in the Regionalliga Nord, scoring 10 goals and providing 14 assists, while also recording 69 appearances, 11 goals and 10 assists in the Oberliga Niedersachsen.

Mansaray began his senior career with TB Uphusen after progressing through youth football at Werder Bremen, Nordwest and Osnabruck. He moved to BSV Schwarz-Weiß Rehden in January 2019 and later returned to the club in 2021 after a spell with Rot-Weiss Koblenz.

His time at both Rehden and Koblenz brought cup success. He won the Lower Saxony Cup with Rehden in the 2021-22 season and lifted the Rhineland Cup with Koblenz in 2020-21.

Mansaray returned to Lower Saxony when he joined SVA Delmenhorst in July 2023, before switching to FSV Schoningen a year later. His latest move keeps him in the region while taking him to Wilhelmshaven, who compete in the Oberliga Niedersachsen.

The winger has also featured in the DFB-Pokal, making two appearances in the competition, and has played in the Regionalliga Sudwest and regional cup fixtures during his career. His record includes 16 goals across the Regionalliga Nord and Oberliga Niedersachsen, alongside 24 assists.

Mansaray’s move to Wilhelmshaven is confirmed as a free transfer, with his contract running until 30 June 2027.
