Wilfried Zaha has been named in Olympique Lyonnais’ squad for their Ligue 1 match against Angers on Saturday, marking his return after missing the last two games. Manager Pierre Sage confirmed the winger’s inclusion as Lyon look to boost their performance in the 14th round of the league.
Zaha’s return comes at an opportune time following an injury to Saïd Benrahma, who has been ruled out due to a thigh problem.
His absence opens the door for Zaha to reassert his presence in the Lyon attack.
Orban Still Missing
Meanwhile, Nigerian forward Gift Orban continues his spell on the sidelines. The striker has now missed five consecutive matches as he works towards recovery.
Orban’s absence remains a significant blow to Lyon’s offensive capabilities, but the team will rely on their available forwards to fill the void.
Squad Announced
Sage revealed a 21-man squad for the match, with a mix of experienced players and promising talents.
Alongside Zaha, notable names include Alexandre Lacazette, Rayan Cherki, and Maxence Caqueret, all of whom are expected to play pivotal roles.
Here is the full Lyon squad for the Angers fixture:
Goalkeepers: Bengui, Descamps, Perri
Defenders: Abner, Caleta-Car, Mata, Niakhaté, Omari, Tagliafico
Midfielders: Caqueret, Maitland-Niles, Matic, Tessmann, Tolisso, Veretout
Forwards: Cherki, Fofana, Lacazette, Mikautadze, Nuamah, Zaha
Building Momentum
The return of Zaha offers a potential boost to Lyon’s attacking options as they aim to climb the Ligue 1 table. While Orban’s continued absence is a challenge, the squad’s depth will be tested as they take on Angers.
The match presents an opportunity for Lyon to build momentum and make a statement in their campaign.
The fixture against Angers will kick off at the Stade Raymond Kopa, where Lyon hopes to secure a crucial three points and continue their push for improvement this season.
