Wilfried Singo closing in on Galatasaray return after injury
Wilfried Singo is expected to return to action for Galatasaray after the next international break as the Ivory Coast defender continues his recovery from injury.
According to Milliyet, the 25-year-old is nearing a return after being sidelined since the beginning of the season.
Galatasaray are taking a cautious approach and do not want to rush him back into competitive football.
The Turkish club plans to gradually reintroduce Singo to first-team action once he is ready.
His return will therefore be carefully managed as Galatasaray look to avoid any further problems following his injury.
Singo has had very little opportunity to establish himself in the Galatasaray defence this season.
He has made only two appearances since the campaign began, with the Ivory Coast international playing a combined 41 minutes.
That limited involvement has prevented the defender from building momentum at his new club and interrupted what was expected to be an important period of adaptation.
His injury came at the start of the season and has delayed his involvement with the Istanbul side. Galatasaray are now using the international break as an opportunity to give him additional time to prepare before returning to competitive action.
The club’s preference is to avoid unnecessary risks and ensure Singo is ready before sending him back onto the pitch.
For the defender, the priority will be to regain full fitness and begin accumulating regular playing time once he returns.
Singo’s name has also appeared in reports surrounding Galatasaray’s plans for the winter transfer window. Turkish media have suggested that the club could consider parting ways with the Ivorian, along with İlkay Gündoğan and Kaan Ayhan.
However, there has been no official decision from Galatasaray regarding those reports, meaning the transfer speculation remains unconfirmed.
For now, Singo’s immediate focus is on completing his recovery and returning to the team. His lack of playing time means getting back on the pitch will be an important first step before any discussions about his future become clearer.
Galatasaray are therefore expected to remain patient with the defender as he works towards his comeback.
If his recovery continues as planned, Singo should be available after the international break, giving the club another defensive option while allowing the Ivory Coast international the opportunity to restart his season.
