Wilfried Kouame: Ivory Coast midfielder joins Gelbison from Clodiense

Ivory Coast midfielder Wilfried Kouame has joined Gelbison from Clodiense on a free transfer, switching clubs in Italy’s Serie D after only a short spell with his previous side.

The 28-year-old central midfielder completed the move on 5 September 2026, moving from Serie D – C to Gelbison in Serie D – G. The transfer continues Kouame’s long-standing career in Italian football, where he has represented a succession of clubs across the country’s lower divisions.

Kouame had joined Clodiense from Sambiase on 15 July 2026, also as a free agent. His time at Clodiense therefore lasted less than two months before he made the move to Gelbison, where he will continue to play in Serie D.

Standing at 1.85m, Kouame is listed as a central midfielder and provides Gelbison with an experienced option in the middle of the pitch. He holds Ivorian nationality and turned 28 on 29 May 2026.

His career has included spells with Sambiase, Sancataldese, Citta S.Agata, Bisceglie, Manduria, Misilmeri, Giarre, Licata, Ragusa and Legnago. Every recorded move since leaving Legnago Giov. has been completed without a transfer fee, including his switches to Legnago, Ragusa and Licata.

Kouame joined Sambiase from Sancataldese in July 2025, after moving to Sancataldese from Citta S.Agata in January of the same year. Before that, he had spent time with Bisceglie and Manduria, while his earlier Italian clubs included Misilmeri and Giarre.

Gelbison’s latest signing arrives at a club competing in the same broad level of Italian football as Clodiense but in a different Serie D group. The move gives Kouame another opportunity to establish himself with a new team after a series of free transfers during his career.

The midfielder’s recent competitive record includes an appearance in the Coppa Serie D, while his current campaign record stands at zero appearances before the switch to Gelbison.

Kouame has signed for Gelbison on a free transfer and is contracted until 30 June 2027.
