Wilfred Ndidi urges Felix Uduokhai to choose Nigeria over Germany
Nigeria international Wilfred Ndidi has urged German-born defender Felix Uduokhai to represent the Super Eagles at the international.
Uduokhai, 28, who plies his trade for Besiktas remains eligible for Nigeria despite playing for Germany’s youth teams. He earned a senior call-up in 2020 without making an appearance.
The enterprising centre-back will be available for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations tournament to be staged in Morocco between December 2025 and January 2026, as his name is missing from Eric Chelle’s 54-man provisional squad.
Nigeria’s absence from the 2026 World Cup also means there is no immediate competitive push for a switch.
However, Ndidi, has urged his Besiktas teammate to represent Nigeria over Germany at the international level.
In a light-hearted Snapchat video, Ndidi playfully appealed for defensive reinforcements, saying, “Come and play for Nigeria. Centre-back, we want centre-back.”
Uduokhai laughed and responded in Pidgin, “How much?” Ndidi burst into laughter, replying, “What do you mean, how much? If you want money, just don’t bother – just stay.”
Both players joined Beşiktaş this year and have built a strong bond in the dressing room. Ndidi, one of Nigeria’s most experienced stars, returns for AFCON after missing the 2023 tournament through injury.
