Jordan Ayew has stated that when he is calm and psychologically focused, he’s a force to be reckoned with.
The Leicester City striker has been a standout for Ghana in their 2026 World Cup qualification campaign, carrying the team with his goal-scoring prowess.
Despite facing flak from fans for inconsistent performances in the past, Ayew has silenced doubters with a stellar run, including a memorable hat-trick against the Central African Republic in Kumasi last June.
His four goals in the qualifiers make him Ghana’s leading marksman, just one behind Egypt’s Mohamed Salah and Trezeguet, who top the charts with five each after four matches. With the captain’s armband likely headed his way for upcoming clashes against Chad and Madagascar, Ayew’s confidence is unshaken.
“Since I’ve been in the national team I’m still the same today,” he told BBC Sport Africa.
“When I’m myself, I am at my best. When I’m not myself, then I become unproductive,” he added.
Ghana fine-tuned their preparations today ahead of tomorrow’s showdown with Chad at Accra Sports Stadium, kicking off at 19:00 GMT.
