Algeria Football Association president, Walid Saadi has described his outfit thumping win over Mozambique in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers as a best response to doubters.

The North African giants walloped Mozambique 5-1 on Tuesday evening in the sixth round of the qualifiers, opening a three points gap at the top.

Speaking after the game, Walid Saadi shared his excitement following the sides resounding win over their opponent, saying is the best response to doubters.

“I congratulate the players and the technical staff on this wonderful victory,” Saadi told the media.

“I believe today’s victory is the best response to the doubters, especially since it proves that the national team possesses great potential and is capable of going far in all competitions.”

“Despite the victory, we have not yet secured qualification. We still have four matches to play, and we will proceed through these qualifiers, round by round.”

“Our fans truly deserved full marks. Even though the match took place during Ramadan, they were on time and attended in large numbers. I believe that a word of thanks does not do them justice”

Algeria is seeking their fifth qualification to the World Cup and their first since the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

Currently, Algeria sit top of the table with 15 points, followed by Mozambique, who has 12 points after six matches. The qualification series for the World Cup will resume in September 2025.
