West Ham United complete €25m signing of Senegalese defender El Hadji Malick Diouf

West Ham United have confirmed the signing of Senegalese left-back El Hadji Malick Diouf from Slavia Prague in a deal worth €25 million, including performance-related bonuses.

The 20-year-old defender has signed a long-term contract with the Premier League club and will continue to wear the number 12 shirt, as he did during his time in the Czech Republic.

Diouf becomes West Ham’s first major signing under new manager Graham Potter, who praised the youngster’s talent, maturity, and rapid development on the European stage.

That form caught the attention of Slavia Prague, who signed him during the 2024 January transfer window.

In just 18 months with Slavia, Diouf established himself as one of the most exciting young prospects in European football.

His contributions were pivotal in both domestic and continental competitions, scoring 9 goals and providing 4 assists across 50 appearances—a remarkable output for a full-back.

Ultimately, it was West Ham who moved decisively to secure his signature, making Diouf the most expensive outgoing transfer in the history of the Czech First League.

His €25 million fee surpasses the previous record of €16.5 million paid by Tottenham for Antonín Kinský.
