West Ham are in talks with Chelsea over a loan deal for French defender Axel Disasi until the end of the season, as the 27-year-old looks for regular football away from Stamford Bridge.

Disasi has not made a single first-team appearance this campaign, despite recently returning to full training under new head coach Liam Rosenior, and Chelsea are open to a temporary move.

L’Equipe report that West Ham are currently leading the race, although other clubs are also monitoring the situation. One factor in any decision is Chelsea’s limit on overseas loans, which is capped at seven players and could shape where Disasi ends up.

The centre-back remains under contract with the Blues until 2029, so any January switch will be a straight loan rather than a permanent sale.

On 4 August 2023, Disasi joined Chelsea from Monaco on a six-year deal for a fee of around €45 million (£38.5 million), bolstering a defence hit by injuries to key players such as Wesley Fofana.

A versatile right-sided centre-back, he made his Premier League debut just nine days later, starting the 1–1 draw against Liverpool at Stamford Bridge and immediately showcasing qualities suited to the intensity of English football.
