West Ham United manager Graham Potter has praised the work ethic of Mohammed Kudus, despite the midfielder’s disappointing season.
Kudus, who was a standout performer for the Hammers in his first season, has struggled to find the same form this campaign.
The 24-year-old Ghanaian has managed just three goals and two assists in 27 appearances across all competitions.
His season took a major hit earlier on when he received a five-game suspension and a heavy fine for slapping a Tottenham Hotspur defender in frustration.
The punishment disrupted his momentum and contributed to his inconsistent performances.
Speaking ahead of West Ham’s midweek Premier League match against Wolverhampton Wanderers, Potter admitted though Kudus’ season has not been good, his work ethic has been fantastic.
“I think Mo has had probably a season that, from his perspective, would be a little bit disappointing, not because of his lack of effort or anything like that, but sometimes these things happen,” he said.
“Speaking personally, he’s been great with us in terms of how he’s worked every day, fantastic. He has built his fitness up, built his condition up to the point where he can sustain things a lot better now,” the manager added.
West Ham’s overall campaign has also been disappointing, with the team failing to meet expectations in the league.
Their poor form has left them in a difficult position on the table, increasing the pressure on both players and management.
As the Hammers prepare to face Wolves, Kudus will be hoping for a fresh start. A strong performance in the game could help him regain confidence and contribute to West Ham’s push for a better finish this season.
