Alou Diarra’s return to Ligue 1 could become a reality. According to reports from footmercato, West Ham, no longer considering the French international of Malian origin, has proposed him to AS Saint-Etienne. The English club has reportedly offered the Greens a swap deal involving Ivorian player Max-Alain Gradel, who is of great interest to them. Gradel, who has seen limited playing time at Geoffroy Guichard, is well-regarded in England, having previously played for Leeds.
In a recent interview with L’Equipe, Alou Diarra expressed his desire to leave England, stating, “West Ham? It’s not a good career choice. A departure in January? It’s very likely,” indicating his frustration with playing a secondary role. This presents him with a good opportunity to explore other options.
