Alex Song Set for West Ham Exit as AC Milan Show Interest
Cameroonian midfielder Alex Song is expected to leave West Ham United at the end of the season, with Serie A giants AC Milan reportedly leading the race for his signature. The former Arsenal and Barcelona player is currently on loan in London from the Catalan club but looks unlikely to extend his stay at Upton Park.
According to Sky Sports, Song has caught the attention of Milan’s coaching staff, who are keen to add the experienced midfielder to their ranks ahead of next season. His agent is said to be in Italy and was spotted attending Milan’s recent home defeat to Genoa, fuelling speculation that discussions over a potential move are already underway.
The 27-year-old, who began his professional career at Bastia before rising to prominence with Arsenal, has had a mixed spell at West Ham but remains a player of proven pedigree. His versatility, passing range, and physical presence in midfield make him an attractive target for clubs looking to reinforce their engine room.
City rivals Inter Milan are also believed to have expressed interest in the Cameroonian international. However, the Nerazzurri are reportedly prioritising a more high-profile move for Manchester City’s Yaya Touré, which could leave the path clear for Milan to secure Song’s services.
Song, who represented Cameroon at the 2010 and 2014 World Cups and has over 40 international caps, is said to be open to a new challenge in Serie A. With his future at Barcelona uncertain and his West Ham spell nearing its conclusion, a move to Italy appears increasingly likely.
Barring any late developments, the former Indomitable Lion could be set to wear Rossoneri colours next season as Milan look to rebuild and return to former glories.
