Brown Ideye Granted Work Permit to Join West Bromwich Albion
Nigerian striker Brown Ideye has received his UK work permit and is now cleared to join Premier League side West Bromwich Albion following his €16 million transfer from Dynamo Kyiv.
The 25-year-old confirmed the development to the BBC, stating: “The British High Commission called the club to inform them that they had issued my visa. I will finally be able to train, my bags are packed, I am ready to leave for England.”
The visa clearance, a routine process for non-European Union players moving to the UK, marks the final step in what has been a record-breaking signing for West Bromwich Albion — the most expensive in the club’s history.
Although Ideye was not included in Nigeria’s squad for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, he boasts an impressive scoring record. He netted 45 goals in 106 appearances for Dynamo Kyiv, having joined the Ukrainian side in 2011 from French club Sochaux for €8 million.
Prior to his stints in Ukraine and France, Ideye made his mark with Swiss side Neuchâtel Xamax. He has now signed a contract with West Bromwich Albion running until 2017.
