West Brom linked with move for former Sunderland winger Bertrand Traore

Bertrand Traore, the 30-year-old Burkina Faso winger currently without a club, has been linked with a move to Championship side West Brom.

Traore became available after leaving Sunderland on 1 July, having spent the previous season at the club. He joined Sunderland from Ajax in September 2025 in a deal worth €2.9m, but his time on Wearside lasted only one campaign.

The left-footed right winger has played in England’s Premier League, France’s Ligue 1 and the Netherlands’ Eredivisie during his career. He made 77 Premier League appearances, scoring 12 goals and providing eight assists, while his record in the Eredivisie stands at 31 goals and 11 assists from 99 appearances.

Traore also has European experience, scoring 11 goals in 32 Europa League appearances and featuring 15 times in the Champions League.

His career has included spells with Chelsea, Lyon, Aston Villa, Villarreal, Ajax and Sunderland. He spent part of the 2022-23 campaign on loan at Turkish club Basaksehir before returning to Aston Villa.

Traore’s current market value is listed at €4m, and a move to West Brom would see him return to English football after his departure from Sunderland. He remains without a club as the rumour linking him with the Championship side develops.
