West Bromwich Albion have announced the signing of Malian midfielder Ousmane Diakité on a two-year deal with a one-year extension option, AfricaSoccer.com can confirm
The 23-year-old joins from Austrian Bundesliga side TSV Hartberg, where he made 34 appearances and scored two goals last season.
Diakité, an Africa Cup of Nations U20 winner, stands at 6ft 2in and is a defensive midfielder.
He expressed his excitement about joining the club, saying, “I’m delighted to join such a massive club. It’s always been my ambition to play in England, and I can’t wait to get started.”
Head coach Carlos Corberán praised Diakité’s talent and potential, saying, “Ousmane is a young, talented midfielder who will help us transition from defence to attack.
“His experience in Austria’s top league and physical attributes will aid his adaptation to the Championship’s high demands.”
