Wessam Abou Ali set to join Columbus Crew in record-breaking move from Egypt

Al Ahly SC and Columbus Crew find themselves at a difficult point as the much-anticipated signing of Palestinian forward Wessam Abu Ali is delayed.

Abu Ali was released by the Egyptian giants for $7.5 million, plus bonuses of $1 million and 15% of any future sales. However, discontent is mounting in Cairo, with Al Ahly officials claiming the contract hasn’t been signed due to missed financial demands.

Kooora was informed by a club insider that although Abu Ali passed the necessary medical check in Denmark, the contract has not yet been activated. “The contract has not been activated yet. Wessam Abu Ali is registered on Al-Ahly’s roster and is still a player for the Red Devils because the terms of the contract are clear,” the source stated,” the source stated.

Until the money is received, Al Ahly will not release the player’s international card.

According to a different source close to Abu Ali, his “B1” visa is the last obstacle. Columbus is supposed to finish the payment after his journey.
