Bukayo Saka has revealed the Arsenal dressing room is full of excitement following the club’s summer recruitment drive.
The England winger spoke after scoring the winner in Arsenal’s 1-0 victory over AC Milan on Wednesday night at the National Stadium in Singapore, part of the Gunners’ pre-season tour.
Saka, whose Nigerian heritage has long been a source of pride for fans in both countries, welcomed the arrival of several new players, including Christian Norgaard, Martin Zubimendi, and Kepa Arrizabalaga.
Fellow summer signing Noni Madueke, who joined from Chelsea, was left in London to continue recovery following his Club World Cup duties.
“Yeah, we’re very excited. We have some new signings,” Saka said. “The same group, we’re all top-quality players. We have the confidence that we’re going to have a big year.”
The 23-year-old looked sharp in Singapore and appears to be in peak condition, something Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta acknowledged post-match.
“We have pushed him through the summer to catch up on a lot of things that he had to, to give himself the best chance to exploit his qualities better and more highlighted, and with more impact every time physically he’s at the highest level,” Arteta said.
With high expectations for the upcoming season and strong competition for places, Saka’s form and mindset appear aligned with the club’s ambitions.
The new arrivals are expected to bolster Mikel Arteta’s options as Arsenal aim to challenge on multiple fronts, having narrowly missed out on silverware last season.
The Gunners continue their pre-season in Asia, and Saka’s goal against Milan has only heightened optimism around what lies ahead.
