Werder Bremen: Yatabaré Transfer Officially Confirmed

Malian midfielder Sambou Yatabaré has officially completed his transfer to Werder Bremen, confirming the news that had circulated just a day earlier. The 27-year-old, who had been on loan at **Standard Liège** from **Olympiacos**, is now leaving the Greek club on a permanent basis to join the German side. Yatabaré has signed a contract with Werder Bremen that will keep him at the club until **June 2019**.

The move comes at a crucial time for Werder Bremen, who are currently struggling in the **Bundesliga** and sit in **16th place**, just above the relegation zone. The club has been actively seeking reinforcements in the winter transfer window to boost their chances of remaining in Germany’s top flight, and Yatabaré is seen as a key addition to strengthen the midfield. Known for his versatility and physical presence, the Malian international can play in both defensive and central midfield roles, offering stability and support to Bremen’s struggling squad.

Yatabaré’s career has taken him across multiple leagues in Europe. He has previously played in **Belgium**, **Greece**, **France**, and **Germany**, gaining valuable experience at each stop. His time at Standard Liège showcased his quality and leadership in midfield, earning him recognition as one of the top performers in the team during his loan spell. Now, he brings that experience to a Werder Bremen side desperately seeking consistency and points to avoid relegation.

This signing follows Werder Bremen’s recent acquisition of another African player, **Papy Djilobodji**, who joined the club on a six-month loan from **Chelsea**. The addition of both players highlights the club’s strategy to strengthen its squad with experienced international talent capable of making an immediate impact. Djilobodji, a central defender, and Yatabaré, a dynamic midfielder, are expected to provide Bremen with both defensive solidity and attacking support from midfield.

For Yatabaré, the move to Werder Bremen represents an important step in his career. The Malian international will have the opportunity to play in one of Europe’s most competitive leagues and help a team in a critical fight to maintain its top-flight status. His arrival is expected to bring not only skill and tactical intelligence to Bremen’s midfield but also leadership and experience to a squad that needs guidance during a challenging season.

The Bundesliga campaign is entering its decisive phase, and Werder Bremen’s management hopes that the additions of Yatabaré and Djilobodji will provide the necessary boost to secure survival. Fans of the club are eager to see the impact of these new signings as Bremen battles to climb the table and avoid relegation.

Sambou Yatabaré’s permanent move to Werder Bremen underscores the club’s commitment to reinforcing its squad with experienced players from across Europe and Africa. With a contract running until June 2019, Yatabaré has the chance to establish himself as a central figure in Bremen’s midfield and contribute to the club’s fight for Bundesliga survival.
