Werder Bremen weigh move for Trabzonspor midfielder Batista Mendy

Batista Mendy, the France and Guinea-Bissau midfielder at Trabzonspor, has been linked with a move to Bundesliga club Werder Bremen.

The 26-year-old defensive midfielder returned to Trabzonspor at the end of June after spending the 2025-26 season on loan at Sevilla. That loan included a €250,000 fee and ended without a permanent transfer, leaving Mendy back at the Turkish club as interest from Germany emerges.

Mendy joined Trabzonspor from Angers in September 2023 for €4.4m and remains under contract until 30 June 2027. His current market value is listed at €7.5m, while his highest recorded valuation was €10m.

He has made 65 appearances in the Turkish Super Lig, scoring twice and providing two assists. His other top-flight experience includes 71 Ligue 1 appearances and 27 La Liga games during his career.

A move to Werder would represent a return to one of Europe’s major leagues for Mendy, who began his senior career with Nantes before joining Angers. The potential transfer remains at an early stage, with the possibility currently assessed at 24%.

Mendy’s contract means Trabzonspor would not be under immediate pressure to sell, although his return from Sevilla has placed his future firmly under discussion ahead of the new season.
