Werder Bremen open to extending Felix Agu’s contract
SV Werder Bremen could keep Felix Agu beyond 2027, with the club signaling openness to a new deal for the left-back despite his injury-plagued season.
Agu, 26, managed just 12 official appearances last term after an ankle injury sidelined him for months, followed by muscle problems.
“There have been no further talks so far, but we are fundamentally positive about a contract extension,” said Peter Niemeyer. The last exchange between both sides took place in winter.
Werder now hope Agu can complete the full pre-season without setbacks. “We are looking forward to him being able to complete a complete pre-season to finally go into the season fit after the injuries,” Niemeyer added.
When healthy, Agu has been a regular option on the flank for Bremen in recent years. Over the summer, the extension topic could become more concrete.
His average rating over the past four years stands at 6.66 according to Sofascore, reflecting steady contributions before injuries struck. With his current contract running until 2027, Werder want to secure their experienced left-back for the long term.
