Werder Bremen near agreement for Karim Coulibaly transfer to Strasbourg

Werder Bremen are nearing an agreement to sell 19-year-old centre-back Karim Coulibaly to Strasbourg, with only a few final details reportedly left to resolve.

The Bundesliga club appear ready to accept the French side’s latest proposal after receiving positive signals during negotiations.

According to Foot Mercato, Strasbourg’s package is worth €20 million in guaranteed payments. Bonuses and a potential sell-on clause could increase the overall value beyond €25 million, making the deal one of Werder’s most significant recent sales. Sky Italia journalist Luca Bendoni has also reported that the transfer is close.

German newspaper Bild previously described Strasbourg’s proposal as the Ligue 1 club’s third and final offer. Werder had not immediately responded, but the Bremen side now appear prepared to approve the move, allowing the transfer to be completed soon.

Coulibaly only joined Werder recently, yet his potential and defensive profile have attracted strong interest from France. His departure would give the club considerable funds to reinvest in the squad.

Werder coach Daniel Thioune is particularly keen on Cameron Puertas, a 28-year-old midfielder at Al Qadsiah. The Saudi club reportedly value Puertas at €10 million, meaning Coulibaly’s sale could help finance the desired signing.
