Lamine Ndiaye vows to outshine Zamalek in final

Senegalese coach Lamine Ndiaye says his outfit will give everything when they take on Zamalek in the CAF Confederation Cup final.

The Algerian outfit triumphed over Moroccan club Olympique Safi in the semifinal to set up a crucial final against Zamalek next month.

The two-legged tie proved to be a tense and hard-fought affair. After a goalless draw in the first leg in Algeria, the return encounter in Morocco ended 1-1. That result was enough to send USM Alger through to the final, capitalizing on their resilience in a match overshadowed by repeated stoppages and chaotic scenes that affected the flow of play.

Speaking after the match, Ndiaye affirmed his outfit will give everything in the final to secure the triumph over Zamalek.

“We deserved to go through,” Ndiaye said in remarks reported by Algerian media. “The stoppages affected our rhythm and focus at times, but in the end, we stayed composed and got the result we needed.”

“The final will be very tough. Zamalek are a big team with experience in these competitions, but we will prepare well and give everything,” he added.

For USM Alger, the qualification represents not just a sporting achievement but a statement of resilience under pressure. For Ndiaye and his players, one final hurdle remains as they chase continental glory.

The final will be played over two legs, with the first scheduled for May 9 in Algeria, before the decisive return leg takes place at Cairo International Stadium on May 16.
