Head coach of South Africa Hugo Broos says his outfit will not underestimate Lesotho in the 2026 World Cup qualifier on Friday.
The former African champions takes on Lesotho this afternoon at Peter Mokaba Stadium before traveling to Ivory Coast to take on Benin on Tuesday, March 25, 2025.
With only the top team securing automatic qualification, the Belgian tactician and his charges must deliver results to better their chances of qualifying.
Ahead of the clash, the Belgian trainer insists his outfit will not under estimate their opponent as they seeks maximum points.
“It becomes a habit here in Africa that you’re never sure about a victory before the game, We saw it yesterday: Cameroon against Eswatini, 0-0. Tomorrow we have an opponent that we don’t have to underestimate because they played in September against Morocco and lost 1-0 in the 93rd minute, They Lesotho played more than a year ago in Nigeria; they played 0-0. So that means that we are in front of a tough game tomorrow” he said.
The Bafana Bafana are currently second in Group C with seven points, level with leaders Rwanda, while Lesotho sits in fourth place, just two points behind.
Meanwhile, referees from Djibouti have been appointed by CAF to handle the game between South Africa and Lesotho.
