Ghana international Inaki Williams is refusing to throw in the towel in their push for Europa League final bid despite heavy home defeat to Manchester United.
The Black Stars forward started and played for 87 minutes as his outfit succumbed to a 3-0 defeat to the Red Devils in the semifinals first leg encounter, held at the San Mames on Thursday night.
The Spanish outfit now faces a daunting task to overturn the scoreline in England to progress to the finals of the Europa League this season.
A brace from captain Bruno Fernandez and Casemiro’s strike were enough for the Premier League giants to snatch a resounding victory over Athletic Bilbao.
Despite the defeat, the former Spain international has refused to give up on qualification to the final.
“Today we’re going to bed feeling screwed, but starting tomorrow we’re feeling hopeful. We’re not throwing in the towel. There have been some dubious situations. I think a double punishment is excessive.”
“The penalty came after a handball from Garnacho that the referee didn’t see, and from a challenge by Vivian with him, its football. At the slightest contact, the player went down.”
“We are capable of coming back from this result. We’re going to Old Trafford to give it all. Our work throughout the season speaks for itself. There’s reason to trust, to have faith. 10.9% FAITH.”
The 29-year-old has scored five goals and provided an assist in 12 appearances in the Europa League. In all competitions, Inaki Williams has scored 11 goals and provided 9 assists in 47 appearances for the Spanish outfit.
