The Senegalese Football Federation has issued a defiant response after the Confederation of African Football’s Appeal Committee made the shocking decision to strip Senegal of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations title and award it to Morocco.

Abdoulaye Sow, the general secretary of the continental football governing body made it clear that Senegal will not back down and is prepared to pursue the matter to the very end.

The decision has sparked outrage across the West African nation, with officials insisting that justice has not been served.

Sow described the situation as far from over, emphasizing that the federation is actively working behind the scenes to challenge the ruling. According to him, high-level discussions are ongoing as Senegal seeks to overturn what many in the country see as an unjust verdict.

“The Cup will not leave the country,” Sow declared. The Federation president is talking to everyone involved. The fight is far from lost. I want to reassure all Senegalese people. Senegal is in the right and victory is on its side”

The Federation’s leadership, including its president, is reportedly engaging all relevant stakeholders in a bid to resolve the dispute. Sow sought to reassure Senegalese fans, insisting that there is still hope and that the battle for the title is far from lost.

The controversy has cast a shadow over African football, with many now watching closely to see how the governing body will respond to Senegal’s resistance. As tensions rise, this dispute could escalate into one of the most dramatic legal and administrative battles in the history of the Africa Cup of Nations.

For now, Senegal remains resolute—determined to reclaim what it believes rightfully belongs to them.
