Ghana international Alexander Djiku says he and his teammates will fight until the end as they chase qualification to the knockout stage of the UEFA Europa League.
The Black Stars defender started and played full throttle of the match as his outfit settled for a 0-0 draw with Lyon in the round 7 clash on Thursday.
Despite creating numerous goalscoring opportunities, both teams were unable to find the back of the net.
Djiku’s outfit now has a slim chance of making it to the round 16 of the Europa League campaign. With 9 points, the Turkish giants find themselves in the 23rd position.
After the game, Djiku took to social media to express his disappointment following stalemate against Lyon. Meanwhile, the former Strasbourg skipper insists his outfit will not give up on qualification until the end.
“Clearly not the result we’d hoped for. We won’t give up until the end. Thank you all the Fans.” Djiku wrote on X.
The tough-tackling defender has racked up five games after seven games in the Europa League group phase.
In all competition, the enterprising centre-back has made 24 appearances and is yet to score or assist a goal.
