Orlando Pirates coach Jose Riveiro says his outfit will fight for the South African Premier League title until the end.
The Soweto giants are 12th points behind log leaders, Sundowns with few matches to end the 2024/25 campaign. Sundowns sit top of the table with 61 points while Pirates sit second with 49 points.
But it is important to note Pirates have two outstanding games and could close the gap if they are able to secure victories.
Following the sides 2-1 victory over Kaizer Chiefs in the Soweto derby, the Spanish tactician expressed optimism about the team’s success in the mere future.
“This group has shown all season long that there is no doubt about their resilience. They compete in every tournament. We won the MTN8 final, now we’re in another final. Until the very last day, we tried to challenge Mamelodi Sundowns for the title, and we were just 10 minutes away from reaching the Champions League final.
They keep proving that… they can achieve something special, or maybe not, because there are factors beyond our control. However, the team’s commitment and composure are what they can hold on to, and they will continue to win in the future.”
