France-born midfielder of Algerian descent, Rayan Cherki, was full of praise for his Olympique Lyon teammates on Thursday after the team’s hard-fought 2-2 draw against Manchester United in the Europa League.
In the first match of the quarter-final tie played in France, Cherki scored in added time to save his side from the jaws of defeat, ensuring his team earned a point for their labour.
Speaking after the match, the versatile midfielder said Lyon played better than Manchester United and deserved their point.
He said the French Ligue 1 outfit is not scared of the English opponent and will go into the second leg with an attacking mindset.
“We were much better than them. We know they’re a good team, but we’re not afraid of them. We’ll go out to attack in the second leg,” the midfielder said.
The second leg of the quarter-final tie between Manchester United and Olympique Lyon will be played at Old Trafford on Thursday, April 17.
